Have Sex to Stay Healthy

With ongoing concerns surrounding health care in the United States, we can all use a little healthy jump start in our lives. A fun and exciting way to stay healthy is by working it in the bedroom. If having sex in and of itself isn’t enough to have you jumping under the covers, then maybe the following health benefits will give you more of an incentive.

A healthy sex life can do wonders on how you feel. Research has shown that frequent sex, about twice a week, has led to lower blood pressure and stress. When you are feeling calmer you are better prepared for day-to-day activities and obstacles, like a yelling boss and traffic. If you are more relaxed during the day then you can also have more energy for the bedroom, which will make those sex sessions even more enjoyable.

Another benefit of sex is a boost in the immune system. Having sex once or twice a week has been shown to increase an antibody called immunoglobulin A, which helps protect against colds and other infections. When you are feeling healthy and are not as prone to sickness, your partner can spend less time bringing you chicken noodle soup and more time with your pleasure.

America seems fixated on loosing weight, so why not do it the fun way – in bed. According to MedMD, thirty minutes of sex burns 85 calories or more. So, in 42 half-hour sessions you will burn 3,570 calories. That’s enough to burn over a pound. Sure you would probably burn more on the treadmill, but think about how much more fun you’ll have! You can even combine forces: 30 minutes of running on the treadmill during the day and 30 minutes of sex at night. You will be looking and feeling good in no time.

So next time you jump in bed, don’t slack off, give it your all. More sex means an even healthier you; it’s a win-win. Sounds kind of good doesn’t it?
